The motivation to build Yawning Studio
First experiences with social media schedulers
Yawning Studio simplifies the life of the junior content creator. It’s for people who don’t have a lot of time or money to invest in this social media thing. It’s for people like me, and maybe you.
April 2024 I needed to create content for my mums little business. I soon understood that managing a bunch of social media is hard and time consuming. I tried some tools to post for free.
First of all, Buffer. Buffer is big and strong, and many people use it. But the free plan is very limited. It has
- Limited channels
- Only one channel of each tipe (Only one YouTube channel available, for instance)
- Uninteresting pricing, you need to pay for each channel
I also tried Odoo Social posts: Odoo Social Posts Documentation
Odoo is a giant company and Social Posts is just a side-product they do. It does not have a nice UI and it’s not that great to use. It is also limited in what social media you can add, how much channels, etc.
I recommend you to try this two options, they might be perfect for you. But they where far from perfect for me.
2025 - I REALLY need a good social media post scheduler
In 2025 I embarqued to a 1 year journey to create beautiful products, but most importantly, necessary products. I’m working on digital addiction.
I tried Jack Friks social media scheduler,Post Bridge, and is impressive. It is made by a creator, for creators. And since I’m a creator, it looks very close to what I need. You can for 27 dollars:
- Connect UNLIMITED accounts (that’s crazy good)
- Make UNLIMITED posts
- Access to special features like growth consulting, content studio (for content creation directly on the platform)
- It looks beautiful and is SUPER simple to use
Now, let me speak about the negatives:
- No API
- Videos limited to 100MB and 120s
- No backup or memory: very dangerous, you can loose stuff if you have bad internet like me
- Failed uploads from time to time
- No Draft posts
- You can loose videos that you create in studio
- It does not save projects in studio at all, you always have to start from scratch
- Very limited studio, only two templates that you can’t play with to modify
- No analytics page
- No batching: you can’t upload multiple videos, everything has to be made into a unitary level
- There are a lot more, although I like to focus on the positive
Post Bridge is great, this is as good as this kind of tool will get.
The cost-benefit analysis of creating my own tool
Since I’m gonna be posting every day for a year, I need to do some simple math and cost-benefit analysis. If I do, let’s say, 7 hours of marketing weekly and publish 100+ posts a week, that would be:
- 365 hours of work in 2025
- +5000 posts in 2025
- Multiple hundreds of dollars if I pay Buffer, Odoo or Post Bridge
I can’t help but knowing that as a developper, I can create a posting and studio tool myself and tailor it exactly to my needs.
The three platforms I used have their good and bad side. Specially Post Bridge is pretty good for creators. But there are lack of features that I can’t ignore.
What Yawning Studio brings to the table:
Let’s list very important features:
- Connect unlimited account
- Make / schedule unlimited posts
- Very complete content studio with templates as well as video editing
- API
- Big / long videos supported
- Memory: you can draft to finish later. You wont loose stuff if you loose electricity or internet
- Projects: in the projects page you will be able to build automatic pipelines that know exactly what channels to post, how to schedule, etc.
- Analytics page
- Batching: you can upload multiple videos
- Channel nicknames and groups
- Extensive support to platforms: we will include every possible platform even niche ones.
There are probably features that I’m working on that I forgot to describe here. You going to heard more about this project in the feature. In the meanwhile, if you have a feature request, you can join the discord channel.
